Forget the usual stuff below. These shorts are AWESOME! Best investment in comfort you can make. Almost any short can be ok on a short or easy ride. These excel as the miles get long and the temperature gets high. I've got quite a few hundred thousand bike miles by now, and I've tried a lot of different brands. Nothing is as comfortable as these. One tip- for bib shorts, you want a pretty tight fit. That will be more comfortable and keep you from snagging the nose of the saddle when you go from sitting to standing (or vice versa).
I'll bet these shorts could cure a lot of issues that people think are caused by their seats. One of the features is exactly the right amount of slipperiness between the shorts and your saddle. You can plant your butt where you want it, and it stays. You can move around if you want, and the shorts don't stick to the seat. Again, these are just plain awesome for the price. Slip into something more comfortable—something like Bontrager's superb RXL Bib Shorts. These pro-quality bibs combine ergonomic, compressive panels with micro-mesh fabric to keep you dry, comfy and fresh mile after mile. The chamois is the best of the best: it's a Bontrager inForm pad that provides 4-way stretch and varying densities of support that you'll appreciate on every ride. Plus, the mesh bibs eliminate the elastic waistband of conventional shorts for a superior fit, unrestricted breathing and awesome ventilation.

Keep in mind I'm totally biased, being one of the two owners of Chain Reaction Bicycles. But with that in mind, I could wear any pair of shorts I want. These are the BEST. The longer the ride, the better they feel. Problems you thought were from having the wrong seat may very well be cured with these shorts. Hot days? What a difference between these shorts and others. Bontrager has hit a home run with the RL and RXL bib shorts.
