    Comments:

I went with the Trek 7.7 FX in summer 2011 when I relocated to Minneapolis and decided to take more advantage of the area's extensive bicycling options. Prior to this purchase I was pushing a relatively heavy hybrid bike on 20-40 mile rides at about 16 mph. I carefully considered road bikes but I preferred a slightly more upright position and desired the comfort features offered by the 7.7 FX. I just didn't like having to reach down to shift or brake today's road bikes. You still need high-end bike shorts and my butt starts to feel it after an hour, but it works well. I do miss not having a few more options for my hands, which start to get numb after 90 minutes. My bike came with dual-mode pedals, which was also attractive as I have not yet converted to clip-ins. With sneakers, I average about 17.5 mph with very quick acceleration. I'm hoping for another mph bump with clip-ins. As it is, I find that I can keep up with road bikes on level ground as long as the headwind is below 15 mph, although I'm probably exerting more energy. I'm faster than most on the uphill, and lose ground on downhills. My only gripe is that it has been hard to customize this bike with accessories. I was hoping to add aerobars but the handlebar shape doesn't accommodate the standard offerings. Even adding a cyclometer and lights are a bit of a challenge.

    Comments:

I'm a bit older and bigger than I once was and have been through Mountain Bikes and Road Bikes and I have to say this TREK FX 7.7 will be the exact perfect bike for me for many years to come. More relaxed geometry yielded almost no soreness in my back, neck and shoulders on my initial ride (41 miles on W&OD Trail). Honestly, there is not a single negative comment on this bike, all components and set up are matched perfectly. The team at my LBS were awesome during the test ride, decision process, spec review, purchase and delivery. For a mid 50's guy this bike is truely 7 out of 5 stars. Enjoy the ride.

    Comments:

Great bike. I ride about 100 miles a week and this bike is comfortable,Fast, and quite durable. It is the closest bike you can buy to aRacer, without the neck and back pain associated with a racer. The upright position is a godsend to an older guy like myself, yet,I can still keep up with my buddies and their racers.Highly recommended!

I have put over 1200kms on this quick fast & nimble 'flat bar' bike this winter in [...]. It handles the hilly terrain with ease & is extremely stable. I put 28cc Schwalbe Ultrimo tires on for a more smooth & comfortable ride & still maintain vg grip & speed . The iso zone takes the shock out of any bumps in the road . The iso grips have eliminated any numbness in my hands that I have had on previous bikes .The gearing is excellent for climbing hills. This bike has been perfect for my 70 year old body .

        Comments:

I ride for recreation and fitness. The FX 7.7 is a fantastic flat bar bike. I haven't been able to test it on unpaved roads due to winter weather. However, it's much faster, quicker and more responsive than the Trek 7300 I used to ride. The components on this bike are excellent. Shifting is smooth and easy. I believe you'd be hard pressed to find a lighter bike with an aluminum frame.

          Comments:

I have loved road riding for years and really appreciate what a quality bike with nice components can bring to a spirited ride. But, I have had to cut way back on my riding because my traditional road bike was just not comfortable for my "senior" body. Enter the Trek 7.7 FX. I'm back to riding daily with comfort and speed. The combination of Aluminum and carbon fiber makes for a light and stiff chassis that rides like a dream.

I Have done several 70 mile rides and it handled just fine. I've rode 1500 miles since May when I purchased it. I basically ride the roads with this bike. Have a Trek 7500 if I want the trails. Hill are no problems. I would buy this bike again. More comfy then traditional road bike's. At 47 I wanted a bit more upright bike.
