SRAM's Force 1 Hydraulic Brake and Brake Lever is descended from their top-end RED road group, representing SRAM's attempt at perfecting the interface between rider and bike and maximizing braking performance. Designed for a 1 x 11-speed setup, this left-side rear hydraulic-brake carbon lever has the same shape and feel as the Force 1 right lever, but has no shift paddle. The ErgoFit textured body improves grip and finger wrap with reduced diameter, providing better control and a better transition to the bar. The Slim by Four is a BMX-specific brake pad with a symmetrical shape designed for both forwards and backwards braking. The Dura Type insert pad was originally developed as an aftermarket upgrade for high end Shimano brake systems. Kool-Stop disc pads are made with organic materials that are blended and bound together using a resin. The compounds do include small amounts of metal to improve the braking formula but though this is a mined material the pads are largely organic. The term semi-metallic can also be used.
